This article explains the advanced search and the logical linking of filters.
With the advanced search (see search bar on the left), data-based search queries can be formulated even more granularly than with the classic filter bar.
Typical use cases:
- Finding files that contain certain data but explicitly not others
- Combination of dates, text fields and persons
Search criteria can be provided with conditions such as equals or contains and linked using logical operators . In this way, complex search queries can be mapped.
Structure in detail: An advanced search query consists of at least one filter with one condition and one value. Further filters can be added and logically linked (either as an AND group or as an OR group). Together they form a filter group.
Several filter groups can then be linked by AND or OR. The grouping takes on the function of brackets in the search logic.
Possible entries:
- Filter: File name (preset), Dataset value, Custom metadata, Creation date, Person name, Recording date, Tag name
- Conditions: Equals (preset), Not equal, Contains, Does not contain, Has value, Is empty – and for numerical values (date) also: Greater than (<), Less than (>), Greater than or equal (≥), Less than or equal (≤)
- Values: Free text (case-insensitive) or date (MM.DD.YYYY)
Click Apply filters to execute the search. Remove all filters resets the search configuration. It will be possible to save search configurations in the future.
Application examples
Example 1: Event branch (programme items)
Requirement: all media that show the opening, a keynote speech or a panel discussion, were created after 2025 and have not been labelled as archive material
Implementation:
Filter group A
Filter 1: Tag name contains "opening" OR
Filter 2: Tag name contains "keynote" OR
Filter 2: Tag name equals "panel discussion"
AND
Filter group B
Filter 1: Recording date greater than or equal 01/01/2026 AND
Filter 2: Tag name does not contain "archive"
Example 2: Sports (ice hockey)
Requirement: all images with game scenes from the current season that show Moritz Müller and Brady Austin together
Implementation:
Filter group A
Filter 1: Tag name equals "game scene" AND
Filter 2: Recording date greater than or equal 09/09/2025
AND
Filter group B
Filter 1: Person name equals "moritz müller" AND
Filter 2: Person name equals "brady austin"
