This article explains the download dialog – an optional dialog window that displays license and usage information before a file is downloaded.
The configuration is available in the Organization settings under Download dialog (administrator rights required).
General settings
The download dialog is disabled by default. Once activated, it appears before a download whenever at least one of the configured conditions applies to the file in question. If none apply, the download starts without the dialog.
Purpose query
Optionally, a text field can be shown at the end of the dialog where users enter the intended purpose. The value is then logged together with the download in the file history (under Activities).
Available modes: Disabled, Optional, Required (the download button remains inactive until the field is filled in).
Licenses with notice requirement
Here you can define for which licenses the download dialog appears. When files with a selected license are downloaded, the dialog displays the stored license text.
Individual notes
The contents of selected custom metadata fields can be displayed in the download dialog as file-specific notices. Fields without a stored value are hidden.
Files on hold
For files with status On hold, a warning notice appears automatically. Users must confirm via checkbox that the download is at their own risk – only then does the download button become active.
Finish by clicking Save.
