This article explains how user groups control which content the individual users of a Media Portal receive.
Important preliminary information
- Delivering user-specific content requires the Enterprise package of the Media Portal. Activation and initial configuration are carried out by teamnext.
- With the extension active, portal users only see albums assigned to one of their groups. As long as no group has been set up, the portal therefore displays no media.
Setting up user groups
In the respective Media Portal, select the User groups tab and click Create user group. The following options are available:
- Name (required)
- Default user groups for new registrations: Newly registered users are assigned to the group automatically.
- Linked registration fields: Assigns users based on the options selected during registration.
- Allow downloads and Download sizes: Define whether and in which sizes members may download.
- Select available users: Adds registered portal users.
- Control access for available albums: Tick the albums and sub-albums the group may see.
The process is completed with Save. The groups a user belongs to are shown in the Users tab in the Groups column.
