In this article, you will learn the difference between folders and albums.
Folders contain the actual file inventory and are used to structure the media pool. Albums, on the other hand, are used for the purpose-related compilation of media. They are a collection of file references. Elements marked in albums can be added to another album or moved to another album. If albums or elements of an album are deleted, only references are deleted, the actual files are retained. If you mark media within the folder structure, however, the actual files are affected. Accordingly, these can only be moved to other folders, but not copied, as the Media Hub is designed to avoid the creation of duplicates (see duplicate detection).
Last but not least, it should be noted that changes to the mere structure of folders do not result in changes to albums (this also applies to renaming and moving files) – however, if a file is deleted from a folder, all references that may have existed are also removed.
