This article explains how to set up AI training for automatic person identification.
The AI module Person identification must be activated in the folder settings under AI modules and trained with images of the respective person – 5 images are recommended.
When new images are uploaded to the Media Hub or the AI data of existing folders is re-indexed (see here), the person will be reliably recognized and automatically tagged. If the AI is uncertain, it suggests possible persons for manual decision.
Assign a person and start training
Open an image in large view – a dashed frame appears around detected faces along with the + Assign person button. Clicking it opens a panel with a search field and any available AI suggestions. You can select an existing person from the list or create a new entry via + Create new person.
Once a person has been assigned, you can activate the checkbox Use this marker for training – this marks the image as a training image for face recognition. The same option is available when creating a new person directly from the panel.
Managing training images
In person management (Organization settings > Persons), all training images for a person can be viewed and managed under the AI training tab. The AI training can also be reset via the arrow symbol ↺ – e.g. for data protection reasons or to restart training; confirm the subsequent deletion dialog.
Training tips
- At least 5 images with a clear face
- Various angles & lighting conditions
- With & without jersey, with & without beard
- No sunglasses / occlusions
⚠ Note: If face recognition is not possible for individual images (e.g. because faces are partially obscured), person tags can also be assigned manually via the tag mask.
