In this article, you will learn how to use automatic duplicate detection to sort out duplicate images or allow different versions of an image.
When uploading new images, the system automatically checks whether an image already exists in the Media Hub. It is not the file name, file size or other metadata that is decisive for the detection, but the actual image content. A message is displayed just seconds after the upload if an image has been recognised as a duplicate.
You can then display a visual comparison of the suspected duplicates with just one click and decide whether to keep both files (default):
- keep both files (default)
- the existing file should be replaced (left option)
- or the duplicate should be deleted (right option)
In this mode, you can proceed frame by frame. Existing metadata is also compared.
💡 Tip: You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to select the desired option and complete the process by pressing the Enter key.
If you do not want to check each image individually, you can also
- keep all duplicates
- discard all duplicates
To do this, navigate to the notifications (mailbox icon in the top bar) and then click on the settings icon ⚙️ in the top right-hand corner.
Mode for multiple versions
If several versions of an image already exist, the view changes slightly when comparing them. You can then also switch back and forth between the existing files on the left-hand side and select one of the three options for them.
