In this article, you will learn how to create a new Media Portal.
In the organization settings, navigate to Media Portal and click + Create Media Portal . A dialog window opens with numerous options (mandatory fields are marked with *):
- Name – is also the page title (relevant for search engines)
- Description – meta description for search engines
- color set – color can be selected via color picker or HEX code
- Album background color – likewise
- Home page layout – choice between image stream and album overview (one section each) and albums and images (two sections)
- Cover image layout – Full size or two-thirds (will be cropped for the top two-thirds of the page)
- URL – character string for subdomain (preferably short and concise, no umlauts or special characters)
- Title text – text below the logo
- Title image darkening – None, Light, Medium, Strong (darkening is recommended for light-colored images, search field is then more visible)
- Font – Catamaran, Open Sans or Futura
- Image size – Normal or Large (refers to the size of the preview images in the stream)
- Album heading – heading for the album overview section
- File heading – heading for the image stream section
- Footer text – text for the footer, e.g. © Sample company 2023
- Select cover image – select file from hub or upload file
- Select logo – likewise
- Select favicon – likewise (a favicon is a small icon for web browsers)
- Select header logo – likewise (appears to the left of the search bar when the search is active)
- File sorting – Name, Recording date, Upload date (in ascending or descending order), user-defined (manual sorting under Media Portal > Albums)
- Album sorting – Name, Creation date (in ascending or descending order), user-defined (manual sorting under Media Portal > Albums)
- Secure publishing – if activated, only media that have been explicitly marked for public playback are transferred. For details see here
- Activated – button switched on = Media Portal can be accessed under the specified URL
When you finally click on Save, the system first checks whether all mandatory fields have been filled in; if there are no errors, the Media Portal is created and a status entry is generated (provides an overview if there are several portals).
